Noreastcon 2008

On April 25th and 26th, IPMS Northeast New York hosted Noreaastcon 2008 at the Holiday Inn Express in Schoharie, NY. This isn't a review, or even an overview-just some assorted points of interest:

Some of the Models in the Contest Room.

A first for local, regional, or even national contests. Two full tables of space models- Real Space as opposed to Sci Fi. All in all over 30 models (if I counted correctly). All of it was really great stuff, too. Of course, I have a bias toward space stuff.

My three space entries-John Glenn's Mercury-Atlas in 1/72, Yuri Gugarin's Vostok /R7 Booster in 1/144, and Gus Grissom's Liberty Bell 7 Mercury capsule in 1/12. The capsule took a third -the competition in this category was excellent.
My personal space favorite, a 1/48 lunar landing scene by Pete Malaguti (who took 1st place with another LM).

And of course, buys to be had in the vendor room.
